Nāmati-l-‘uyūn, wa ghārati-n-nujūm, wa Anta Ḥayyun Qayyūm.
Context
And we relate from the Muwaṭṭa’ of Imam Mālik, may Allah be merciful to him, in the chapter on du‘ā’ at the end of the Book of Ṣalāt, from Mālik who said that it had reached him that when Abū ad-Dardā’ got up in the middle of the night he would say: “The eyes have gone to sleep and the stars have set, but You are the Ever-Living, the Self-Subsisting.” [6].The meaning of ghārat is ‘set’ (gharubat).
