Remembrance 3 from Chapter 120

Allāhumma-ghfir li-ḥayyinā wa mayyitinā, wa ṣaghīrinā wa kabīrinā, wa dhakarinā wa unthānā, wa shāhidinā wa ghā’ibinā, Allāhumma man aḥyaytahu minnā fa-aḥyihi ‘ala-l-Islām, wa man tawaffaytahu minnā fa-tawaffahu ‘ala-l-īmān. Allāhumma lā taḥrimnā ajrah, wa lā taftinnā ba‘dah.

Abū Dāwūd’s version has the wording “Make him live in faith and make him die in faith”, whereas the well-known wording in the major works of hadith is “make him live in Islam and die in faith”, as we explained earlier.
