Context
It is makrūh to bow to anyone, under any circumstances. This is indicated by the hadith of Anas
in a previous section: “Messenger of Allah, when one of us meets his brother or his friend, should he bow to him?” He said: “No.” This is a ḥasan hadith, as we have already mentioned, and nothing has been reported to contradict it. One should not be fooled by the many people who claim to be associated with knowledge, piety and virtuous traits but who do this. Imitation and obedience is due only to the Messenger of Allah
. Allah
says: “Whatever the Messenger gives you, take it; and whatever he forbids you, abstain [from it].” [23].
